We are back to our old quarter at the Rietta Lampshade Store, and preparing for the upcoming tax season.  This website will be devoted to tax preparation issues.  The tab Tax Bytes will be where new and important issues are highlighted.  Efiling information will be under that tab.  Useful links will contain hyperlinks to sites such as the IRS and NYState where are my refund pages.  We are committed to make the tax preparation process as efficient, economical, and painless as possible.  Any suggestions for improvement will be greatly appreciated.

E-filing seems to be closer to mandatory than ever.  To those who have not yet experienced it, there are benefits to it.  It is quick and efficient when you have a need for a refund quickly.  By providing bank information, your return can be processed and your refund deposited within a week to ten days.  If you e-filed last year, be sure to check the bank information to assure correct deposit information.

This year’s withholdings were adjusted early in the year to make more funds available to the average wage earner.  However, to date, no corresponding credit was enacted and so there was a tendency to under withhold this year compared to last year.  If you want your withholding checked, fax your latest paystub and we will check it out.

We have tried to clamp down on the costs of preparing returns.  We switched software to offset  other costs so it is our hope to maintain the fee from last year.  The average fee for a return in this area costs $229 and we are well below this amount.  We will try to maintain our fees without sacrificing quality.

Our office hours for the tax season will be 9am to 6Pm Monday thru Friday, and 10am to 5PM.  For those who are comfortable with the regular mails and email, send your information in and we will advise you it has arrived and when we will process it.
